The first few days after Christmas are usually the best days of the year to buy luxury items at affordable prices. Retailers realize that the Christmas rush is finally over and their sales are about to slow down.

It is the perfect time to clear out any excess stock as quickly as possible, before the slower sales months begin. High priced items are usually significantly reduced, so the stores are not carrying an excessive amount of money in inventory into the new fiscal year.

January Bargains You Shouldn’t Miss Out On

Here are the top 5 January bargains you shouldn’t miss:

Electronics

Retailers assume if people were planning to buy an iPad or new laptop for someone else, they would have done it prior to Christmas.

Retailers will drop the price drastically on most *electronics on Dec. 26th to get rid of any extra inventory. Televisions are considerably marked down, since they have a big impact on a company’s slow moving inventory figures and warehouse space.

Appliances

Appliances fall under the same shopping guidelines as electronics. Although most people won’t buy such an expensive item as a Christmas gift, many consumers will decide to replace their fridge or stove prior to having visitors for the holidays.

You can save a lot of money buying new appliances after Boxing Day, if you’re able to survive using your older appliances for a few more weeks.

Luxury Watches

High-end wristwatches are a popular Christmas gift, so most *watch retailers will overstock their inventory prior to the holidays. Any inventory remaining is using reduced to sell, so they are not carrying any of their 2013 inventory into 2014.

High-Quality Furniture

Higher price furniture is usually discounted on Boxing Day for the same reasons as appliances. Furniture stores need to clear out as much inventory as possible before finalizing their earning statements for 2013.

Furniture retailers also want to empty their showrooms and warehouses in December, because new styles are often introduced at furniture shows in January and February. Boxing Day is the perfect time to buy high-quality furniture at a drastic discount.

Winter Coats

Retailers will always slash the prices of winter coats after Christmas, because almost everyone has already purchased their winter coat for the season.

If you are considering replacing your winter coat, wait until Boxing Day when you know they will be on sale.

New Year’s Day is a great day for bargain hunting, especially for any shoppers that needs to buy higher end items. Retailers are willing to lose out on a little money for an expensive inventory item, simply so they can clear their books before they prepare their fiscal statements for the year.

That is why electronics, appliances, luxury watches, high-quality furniture, and winter coats are all Boxing Day bargains that you shouldn’t miss out on.
