Newly Revamped Beefeater at Marsh Mills Plymouth

Last week we visited the newly revamped Beefeater at Marsh Mills in Plymouth. The other half regularly meets there for business meetings but we have never eaten in there before so we were excited to see what they had to offer and check out the new decor.

We were greeted by a very polite lady that showed us to our seats; armed full of goodies for the children including an activity booklet, crayons, a balloon and a Mr Tickles toy. I love places that think about the children, it makes our whole experience much more enjoyable.

We had originally booked for 7pm because I had all sorts of errands to run beforehand but we actually managed to get it all done a lot faster than anticipated so we turned up super early at 5.30pm. We were expecting to be turned away but they were very accommodating and found us a table for 4.

Once we were shown to our table we had a look through the menus to see what took our fancy.

They have a very colourful and attractive children’s menu with a good variety of different options where they can mix and match then choose what they want.

Once we had decided it gave us a chance to check out the funky new decor. The place had a industrial steakhouse feel to it with lots of interesting art sculptures on the walls.

Industrial light fitting

There were certainly plenty of things to look at while we waited for our food. I even found the exact light fitting that I want to hang above our table in the kitchen. So naturally I had to take a picture of it!

I really loved the interior design, it was right up my street.

Steak House

The place was relatively empty when we arrived but quickly filled up which made us glad that we had decided to book rather than just turn up.

By the time we left it was packed!

Our food arrived in good time and was nicely presented.

I opted for the salmon fillet with a herb crust, the other half had steak and the kiddies had fish bites and spaghetti.

The food was good although the prices were slightly more than we would normally pay for a meal out.

The total bill came to £60.81 for 4 of us with two courses each. Most people might think that is pretty reasonable but for us frugal people it felt a bit punchy. The other half made a good point though in saying that all the little extras that we got like the activity booklet and the toy are all what you would call ‘added value’ which is why it was more. Generally we don’t mind paying that little bit extra if the food is good, the staff are polite and the place has a nice atmosphere and this place ticked all of those boxes. So on this occasion we were happy paying that bit extra.

Beefeater Review

In summary, the decor was very cool, the staff were very friendly and we had an enjoyable meal.
