Thrifty Thursday – Being Thrifty on the Allotment

You may know that we have just got our hands on an allotment space that is in need of some serious love and attention. You can read about what we have achieved so far in my Amateur Allotment Growers post.

One of the main things that we needed on the allotment was a shed for storing fold up seats for our pasty breaks tools but we didn’t want to spend a fortune on a brand new one, so I asked around on Freeecyle and Freegle to see if anyone had one that they wanted shot of

and Tah dah…

Free Shed

We got the shed for free from a lovely man in town, all it needed was some new perspex for the windows which only cost us a few pounds. It still amazes me what you can source for free if you have the patience to search around a bit.

As another money saving exercise we labelled up our beds using bits of cut up branches that we smoothed down on one end and wrote on with a pen. This didn’t cost us a penny.

Thrifty Thursday Badge

Thrifty Thursday is a weekly linky and a place to share your thrifty posts. It doesn’t matter if they are old or new and can be about anything to do with saving money and being thrifty. Whether it be a post on cutting back on your food shop or your latest thrifty find link it up, I’d love to see it.

The Boring Rules Bit…

  1. Add a link to your thrifty post with the linky tool below, you can steal the badge for your post too if you like (sorry no fancy codes though, I will work it out one day)
  2. Leave a comment below to let me know that you have joined in, you can also add your Twitter name too if you like.
  3. Try and check out as many other posts in the linky as you can and leave them some comment love.
  4. You can tweet about it with the hashtag #ThriftyThursday. You can also tweet me @Gina_Caro to let me know that you have joined in. (This one is optional).

I have also started a Thrifty Thursday board on Pinterest and I will be pinning any entries onto it each week so more people get to see your great posts. You can check out the board HERE.

  1. You’re doing so well with your allotment, you’re a real inspiration to me. I will start working on my allotment too next week and I hope to gain some of your enthusiasm!

    1. I just hope that the things that we have planted so far actually grow otherwise it’s a wasted exercise. Fingers crossed it will all go to plan but I think this year will definitely be a case of trial and error.
