Thrifty Thursday – Thrifty Home Decorating

I am slowly doing up every room in our house and my focus at the moment is on our bedroom. I’m going for a kind of vintage/regal look, basically lots of gold mixed with old stuff!

It is a very slow process as I am trying to do it with second hand items and it takes time and effort to source the goods. Some weeks you can find loads of great bits and other times you won’t find anything for weeks.

Thrifty Home Decorating

This week has been a good week! I managed to complete my 3 tier vintage suitcase display…

vintage suitcases

The bottom one, I already had. The middle one I found at our local recycling centre (the tip) and I payed 50p for it. It has a really interesting stamp on it, a crown in a circle, which I’d love to know more about so if you know then please shout.

The top one I found yesterday, again at the recycling centre and it cost me £1.00.

Also at the recycling centre I managed to get this ornate candle holder for 50p to go in-between my pound shop frames.

The last thing that I manged to find this week was this picture frame (50p). I’m not keen on the picture in it so I will be changing it at some point.

Now I need your help with something, I have 3 ornate frames above our bed, from the post Thrifty Finds Of The Week and I can’t decide whether to just leave them empty of put something inside then. I was thinking about maybe hanging some vintage keys in the middle or maybe getting some of those wall stickers and having some text inside them. What do you think?

So there you have it my Thrifty finds for the week.

Thrifty Thursday

First off just a quick apology for no Thrifty Thursday last week, things have been a little hectic here. Hopefully back to normal soon.

Thrifty ThursdayThrifty Thursday is a place to share your thrifty posts. It doesn’t matter if they are old or new and can be about anything to do with saving money and being thrifty. Whether it be a post on cutting back on your food shop or your latest thrifty find link it up, I’d love to see it.

I have also started a Thrifty Thursday board on Pinterest and I will be pinning any entries onto it each week so more people get to see your great posts.

    1. I do too, I was thinking about maybe having ‘His’ and ‘Hers’ written in the two horizontal ones. If I can find wall stickers that say that??

  1. I would fill personally and I’m not a huge fan of the script / keys idea if I’m honest but I’m not as trendy! Personally I’d fill with three prints which mean something to you from an artist you love perhaps. It wouldn’t work with the frames but I’m a huge Mucha fan. Or maybe fill with three coordinating interesting pieces of fabric?

  2. I love your creativity and great buys. Fab stuff! I think you’ve got to put something in your frames, otherwise what are you framing? Ha ha, or is my brain being far too practical about that? I’m thinking text too. I like framed text. I am currently in the process of making a big canvas that has my family rules written on it that will be framed, too. What I mean is, I have the idea written down in my ideas book!!!

I'd love to know what you think...
